Your first local edit

Trim an existing video, review the result and export an MP4 without generating new media.

1. Prepare one video

Use a video you own or have permission to edit, longer than five seconds and with audible sound. Have rikoko MCP installed and connected. No generation model key is needed for this tutorial. Keep the local service running while editing and exporting.

Install and check the connection first →

2. Make the file accessible

Attach the video if your client lets the agent read attachments, or provide the full path to a file on the agent’s machine. Ask the agent to confirm it can import that exact file. A path on your laptop cannot be read by an agent on a different server. If the attachment is inaccessible, use the upload method supported by that client and runtime before continuing.

3. Ask for one clear edit

Send the request below with your video. The agent should import it, perform the local edit and return the completed result. You do not need to enter a slash command or choose a generation model.

Request
Use rikoko to trim my attached video to its first 5 seconds. Keep its original aspect ratio and original sound. Export an MP4 and return the video or a playable link here, plus the workspace link. Use only my existing footage; do not analyze it with an AI model or generate new media. If you cannot access the file, explain how I can provide it.

4. Check the actual result

Wait for rendering to finish, then play the full export. Check that it shows the first five seconds, keeps the original frame shape and includes the original sound. A text message saying the task was submitted is not the finished video. Your client may show an attachment or a playable link; both are valid delivery formats.

Open the workspace link if you want to inspect the timeline. A local link opens on the computer running rikoko; it may not work from another device without a separately configured connection.

5. Make a second version

Request
In the video we just edited, lower the original sound to 50% and keep everything else the same. Export a new MP4 version and return its link. Do not generate any new media.

Play the new version and compare the sound. Keep the project or workspace link so you can continue later. Ask to restore the previous saved revision if you prefer the earlier edit.
