Install and connect
Connect your agent to rikoko and verify the local service before creating a video.
1. Check your environment
Install on the machine where your agent runs. Codex, Claude Code or Hermes with terminal access can help with setup. For Claude Desktop, use a terminal-enabled agent on the same computer and ask it to configure Claude Desktop. If Hermes runs on another machine, install rikoko there.
macOS installation has been tested. Linux/WSL and clean-machine setup are not fully verified. The native Windows PowerShell installer is an experimental preview without Windows validation. With WSL, install and run the agent inside the same existing distribution; this does not configure Windows desktop clients.
2. Give this request to your agent
Copy the request below into your terminal-enabled agent. The installer prepares dependencies, preserves other MCP entries and starts the local service. Review any environment or version conflicts reported by the agent before proceeding.
Install rikoko MCP for my current client using https://rikoko.ai/install and https://rikoko.ai/clients. Identify my OS and client, inspect the installer, preserve other MCP servers and back up existing configuration. Report version conflicts before changing anything. Follow the client-specific instructions, including Hermes or Claude Desktop where applicable. Verify the local tools without paid generation. Tell me the installation directory, installed version, connection status and any manual restart or permission steps.3. Reload and check the connection
Reload the MCP connection or restart your client after installation. A connected server should expose rikoko tools and answer a capability request. You do not need a separate production Skill. A slash-command menu is not required: ordinary chat works when the agent has access to the tools.
Use rikoko to check the local service and list the available editing tools and model profiles. Tell me which models are unavailable and why. Do not upload media or start analysis or generation.Success means the agent actually called rikoko and reported the local capabilities. An empty generation catalog can be normal before model configuration. It does not prevent local editing. A successful connection check does not prove a provider account has funds or can complete generation.
If the tools do not appear
Check that the client uses the installation you just configured, then reload its MCP connection. Ask the agent to inspect the local service log and client configuration without printing credentials. For WSL or remote Hermes, check the machine and distribution first. Do not reinstall into a new directory just to hide a connection error.
